CONCEPT DESIGN & NEW TECHNOLOGY
The project includes the design of a number of giant glass"canopies' for the Google headquarters in the Silicon Valley. The glass domes are covered with kinetic shading devices to reduce the glare and to also control the temperature in the work space. The shading devices consist of pieces of technical fabric that operate on a system of metal cables. Each fabric piece covers an 8x8 foot glass panel. It opens and closes by wrapping and unwrapping around a motorized central spindle. This provides a performative element to the giant glass domes,
